On the heels of a campaign to celebrate National Doctor’s Day and the launch of Laurel Road for Doctors, Laurel Road extends further support to the medical professional community
New York, NY — July 22, 2021 — Laurel Road, a digital platform of KeyBank with specialized offerings for healthcare and business professionals, has donated $50,000 to Direct Relief, a nonprofit, apolitical, nonsectarian organization that provides humanitarian assistance across the globe, to support life-saving medical equipment and honor this community’s dedication to keeping us healthy and safe.
The donations are the culmination of Laurel Road’s #ThankYouHealthcare campaign, which began by bringing back the 7pm cheer on National Doctor’s Day where participants were encouraged to thank healthcare heroes across social media platforms for their dedication to fighting COVID-19.
Laurel Road has had an important strategic focus on the healthcare professional sector since the business began originating loans in 2013, offering this group customized services such as Laurel Road’s Physician Mortgage, personal loan options for any career stage, and low student loan refinancing rates.
“Over the past year, healthcare professionals have gone above and beyond. To honor their compassion and selflessness, we’re proud to have been able to lead this campaign of gratitude and donate to an organization with a mission of improving the health and lives of those in need,” said Alyssa Schaefer, Chief Experience Officer at Laurel Road. “Our donation and continued support for Direct Relief is a reflection of our company’s core values, and a small gesture to honor the enormous sacrifice of the medical professional community.”
With this donation, Laurel Road is aiding Direct Relief’s efforts to support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, which recognizes that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth. These donations will be used in parts of the world where the pandemic is still ongoing and assistance is critical.
“Direct Relief is humbled to receive such generous support from Laurel Road, in recognition of the tireless work of healthcare professionals over the last year and a half,” said Heather Bennett, Vice President of Partnerships and Philanthropy at Direct Relief. “This generosity will translate directly into help for people across the globe who have been greatly affected by poverty and has been exacerbated during the pandemic.”
